Yeah, I just tried to load 4.8 -RELEASE and lost one
of my drives.  (sigh)

I guess I never learn:

Never try to do something major on a Friday, the day before
a holiday or the day before a vacation.  8^(

Duh, I let myself forget that it doesn't even get into the installation =20
process correctly...

One thing you could try, just for the test, would be to install 5.1 on =20
a different machine and make sure safe mode is enforced (acpi, eisa =20
probe, etc... like in the errata). Then put the disk in the Compaq and =20
see if it boots, and if it does, re-enable things one by one until it =20
stops working.

But I think I remember you said you need to setup this server asap ;)
