Is there a simple configuration program or simple way to install a =
soundcard? I have spent hours reading the documentation and just go =
around in circles.
i.e " To use your sound device, you will need to load the proper device =
driver. This may be accomplished in one of two ways. The easiest way is =
to simply load a kernel module for your sound card with kldload(8). =
Alternatively, you may statically compile in support for your sound card =
in your kernel." Then it goes on about configuration=20
" If you have one of the above cards, you will need to add: device pcm" =
and=20
" For a non-PnP ISA card, add: =20
device pcm=20
device sbc0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 5 drq 1 flags 0x15"

but then there is no information about how to do this or use this after =
editing the configuration. Also the 'kldload' is this part of what I =
have to do? There is no examples of how to use it in the docs.

I am sorry to have to email you as I am sure that you get lots of this =
sort of thing from new people but I am truly confused and need help? I =
have decided to switch over to freeBSD as it performed much faster on my =
PC than Linux but sound has been a real challenge for me which it was =
not with Linux (in 3 different versions eg redhat, mandrake and debian) =
and help will be greatly appreciated.
David Kelly
