I'm assuming your first IDE controller (wdc0) detected correctly. The standard IRQ and port assignments for the first two IDE controllers are: wdc0 = 1st IDE ctlr ==> IRQ 14, port base 1F0 wdc1 = 2nd IDE ctlr ==> IRQ 15, port base 170 Make sure your settings are set to that, then boot and look at the output from running: dmesg | grep wd Hopefully things will probe OK. If not, post the output and we'll go from there. Randall notme : |Well... I tried using wdc0, but when I use IRQ 14 and 0x170 with wdc0 |(the second IDE Controler's IRQ and port), but it doesn't feel like to |detected it. Also, since I have an IDE harddrive, I had to set the |secondarey IDE controller as IRQ14 and port 0x1f0. Free BSD detected the |secondary IDE controller, but not the first one. Is there something that |I missed? | |Thank You in advance. | | |Julian Elischer wrote: |> well for start try using wdc0 that's the first IDE controller |> |> On Sat, 6 Jun 1998, notme wrote: |> > I have try booting and type "-cv", but after I messed with the |> > config, FreeBSD still says "wcd1 not found at " Is there any |> > other way of fixing this problem? |> > |> > Julian Elischer wrote: |> > > if you type '-cv' when faced with the boot prompt, you will be |> > > given a confiuration editor. |> > > |> > > check the interrupt and port for wdc0 |> > > |> > > you will find that it is IRQ14 and 0x1F0 |> > > which is the standard settings for the IDE cntroller |> > > your settings IRQ15 and 0x170 are the settings for the SECOND IDE |> > > controller.
