Hi Jonathan,
Didn't work, I'm afraid. Shut down X, and typed "startx" and got
errors about not knowing about DefaultDepth.

I removed the line, and restarted fine, but still with the horrible
graphics..,

I know there's some simple thing that I must not be aware of / know. On
another line, what is the best way to move to XFree86-4.0.2 from this
point?

Here's the uname info:
# uname -a
FreeBSD <snip> 4.5-STABLE FreeBSD 4.5-STABLE #1: Tue May 7 00:13:10 BST
2002 <snip>:/usr/src/sys/compile/<snip> i386
#=20

Thanks all the same.

Stacey
