I am having trouble installing FreeBSD 2.2.5 on my computer.
I have a Pentium 200 MMX w/ 64meg and two EIDE drives.
The first drive is 1.6 meg and has Win95 on it. The second drive is 3.5 =
meg and has nothing on it. My plan is to install FreeBSD on the second =
drive and use my BIOS to boot to that drive. Installation proceeds well, =
computer reboots, and the kernal starts then lists the drivers but at =
the very end the system says "panic: cannot mount root". Problem may be =
disk geometry. Drive is 7237 cyls 15 heads 63 sectors. BIOS reads the =
drive as 848 cyls 128 heads 63 sectors. I have tried having a DOS =
partition on the drive as well as keeping the partitions below 1024 =
cyls. What am I missing? Any ideas would be appreciated!=20
Thanks in advance,
Ken Nightingale
