  Without a complete description of what you did, your report isn't very
useful.  It should be obvious that kernels are buildable from the source
in a release, as how could your system boot if a kernel could not be
built?  Obviously, your kernel config file is broken (try with an
unmodified GENERIC first), or the way you built the kernel is wrong.
