Kermit is an option too... and also in the ports. I've been using it
for my serial needs for awhile now.

}the "cu" command (Call Unix):
}
}shadow#cu -s 9600 -l /dev/cuaaXX
}
}Replacing XX with the proper COM port you've hooked it into
}- cuaa0 is COM1,
}cuaa1 is COM2, etc.  When you're done using it pause for a
}second, type ~.
}then pause for another second or so and it will drop you
}back to your shell
}prompt.
