OK changed tyhe /sbin/dmersg to executable by root. I noticed alot of other files are not in /sbin. I wonder if this is my problem. I'll post the dmesg as soon as I figure out how to send dmesg to a text file so I can get it and mail it. Mike however the only thing I see there that looks out of the ordinary is some time-outs on ata1, which is only the cdrom drive. I just wonder how the permissions on this machine could have gotten dorked?
