I do. And I've seen people do that with Unix as well. Since it only
takes one example to disprove such an assertion, your original
assertion about Unix require an expert to set it up and maintain it is
false.

So if I give someone a floppy with a script that writes the
appropriate configuration files on FreeBSD to talk to my favorite ISP,
that wouldn't count as "outside assistance"?

I take it you don't know how to configure Windows with a paned window
manager, since you never answered that question. So much for getting
a superior user interface on Windows.
