Ever heard of Mondo Rescue? http://www.mondorescue.org/
It does exactly this kind of thing, but it may be a bit overkill for your
needs. There's a FreeBSD version on the downloads page, or you can get it
here:

http://64.161.78.226/mondo-fbsd.tgz

Not a port yet... <<sigh>>
