thanks everyone for the quick response to my post
(my first one actually :) you people are great!

i have another question...

is there a way to edit the text that comes out 
in the login screen:

FreeBSD/i386 (myhost.mydomain.com) (ttyv1)

login:
---

is that stored in a file or does the kernel need to be 
recompiled for it to be change?

i'm just curious.
