There was some interest at BSDCon for a comparison just to see where we were. Everything matches up except time and context switches, the context switches I presume is because interrupts require context switches in -current. The time difference is 1800 seconds (stable) verses 2219 seconds (current), making stable 1.23 times faster then current at the moment. I consider this a fairly good number for where we are, and to be expected considering the lack of optimizations in current. -Matt (note: source is NFS mounted. /usr/obj is local disk). buildworld -j 10 of current on an SMP stable box: 1800.50 real 1445.93 user 760.32 sys 25860 maximum resident set size 971 average shared memory size 1164 average unshared data size 130 average unshared stack size 11062987 page reclaims 297 page faults 0 swaps 2013 block input operations 5649 block output operations 1540227 messages sent 1530792 messages received 6 signals received 2467550 voluntary context switches 1357575 involuntary context switches buildworld -j 10 of current on an SMP current box (same hardware specs): 2219.13 real 1796.37 user 968.04 sys 25884 maximum resident set size 912 average shared memory size 1045 average unshared data size 126 average unshared stack size 11677133 page reclaims 537 page faults 0 swaps 8438 block input operations 6774 block output operations 1439793 messages sent 1439774 messages received 6 signals received 28670930 voluntary context switches 2836255 involuntary context switches To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-arch" in the body of the message
