So?

Who says the United States is a democracy?  Only the ignorant
and illiterate.  By definition, the US is a Republic, governed
by a rule of law, not people.  (The example above 
is a rather complicated process of federalism, where each
state is responsible for handling its own elections, and
providing a body of members to serve in the electoral college,
which then actually "elects" the president.)  I'm not going
to go into if I think the Supreme Court had any legitimate
jurisdiction in a Florida matter or not - but the bottom line
here is, if you're going to take cheap shots at a government,
at least know what type of government it is.
