We agree on that.  Most of the ideas on your list have been raised at
least once or twice before, only underscoring the point.  In fact,
I think all of them have been.

init is the smallest bang-for-buck item on your list, actually, and
could be put well behind tasks like improving the Linux emulation up
to Oracle8 standards or writing that Linux Upgrade Kit people have
been joking about for 2-3 years now.

Yep, if one is interested in doing rather than talking, there are
plenty of contravsersy-free and eminently worthy tasks to turn one's
attention to.
