That's what you should be getting. Incoming telnet *SHOULD* be turned off. Hail SSH! </rant> All joking aside, you probably just have it commented out of your /etc/inetd.conf. Check to make sure it isn't (only if you need it) and then HUP inetd. It should come back up for you. -Otter > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG > [mailto:owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG]On Behalf Of andy t > Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2001 7:39 PM > To: questions@freebsd.org > Subject: help!! telnet localhost denied > > > telnet localhost > Trying ::1... > telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused > Trying 127.0.0.1... > telnet: connect to address 127.0.0.1: Permission denied > telnet: Unable to connect to remote host > > can anybody help me ? > _________________________________________________________________ > Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com > > > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org > with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message > To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
