The article you showed is incorrect (its amazing where they come up with this crap). The new 80-wire/40-pin cable was introduced with ATA66, not ATA100 as the article states. ATA100 uses the same 80-wire/40-pin cable as ATA66. ATA33 can use the 40-wire/40-pin IDE cables we've been using for many years.
