Are you saying gedit freezes (locks up) on you?=20 If so, I definitely cannot reproduce this on today's -CURRENT with default malloc options. I did exactly what you say, but gedit closes cleanly for me each time. I was seeing some weird crashes in eog2 today, but I rebuilt it, and now it's fine. You might try the same with gedit2.
