Just to give you a confidence boost, I very recently built jdk14 on a 5.3-RELEASE machine *by the instructions*, and it built without problems, and apps were able to find it afterwards. If that's all that's keeping from starting from scratch, don't worry about java; it's not that bad. -- Joshua Lokken Open Source Advocate
