It builds for me with CFLAGS=-O0 (gcc 2.95.3, FreeBSD 4-STABLE/i386, 128
MB physical RAM + 384 MB swap).  According to a fellow from Cygnus, even
just a plain -O is not guaranteed to work with gcc.
