Samba has supported encrypted passwords for a long time, just not by default--you have to twiddle some things in the Makefile. The correct solution is to enable enable password encryption in samba, NOT disable it in NT. ...I gather there is work on an "exportable" bit of code to do the encryption so samba can be built and distributed with password encryption by default. I don't know the current status though... -john
