In the meantime, I will try compiling a kernel with the old lpt driver enabled (since I don't have any plug'n'pray parallel port devices, nor do I intend to purchase any...). Overall, this sort of thing should have been tested and or better documented. Not all of us are kernel hackers, and not all of us have the time to play with things like this. There wasn't even so much as a blurb about it stating that there may be problems with it. Thought this was why we have -CURRENT...
