Not in the test case I was using which had the system chroot'ed to /home/ftp as I was running annonymously and therefore /bin/compress did exist (and was a copy of the /usr/bin/compress). If /bin/comrpess didn't exist, wu-ftpd would report an error, in this case it seems to send no data across the data stream, as if the output of compress is being lost somehow. Actually, gzip and tar don't exist in /bin either... :-) Gary
