Hmm.  I poked through the code a little bit, and couldn't make any 
real sense of it, but I've never looked at APM before.  The last 
hacker to really work on it much appears to have been Poul Henning-
Kamp, phk@freebsd.org.  You may want to ask him about what you're
seeing, and about ACPI.
