You have to quote the URL: huff@> youtube-dl "http://youtube.com/watch?v=gpIM3nBR2ZA" The shell parses "http://youtube.com/watch?v=gpIM3nBR2ZA", sees the '?', thinks it's a shell glob character, and does the usual thing.
