The device you're looking for is a 'Console Server'. There are any number of such devices available off the shelf -- Lantronix makes some reasonably good ones. However, if you don't want to spend money, you can daisy-chain your FreeBSD boxes together using null-modem cables between the serial ports and use tip(1) as a terminal emulator. In any case you need to make your servers use a serial port as the system console: http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/serialconsole= -setup.html Cheers, Matthew --=20 Dr Matthew J Seaman MA, D.Phil. 26 The Paddocks Savill Way PGP: http://www.infracaninophile.co.uk/pgpkey Marlow Tel: +44 1628 476614 Bucks., SL7 1TH UK --AqsLC8rIMeq19msA Content-Type: application/pgp-signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (FreeBSD) iD8DBQFAd8y5dtESqEQa7a0RAk/xAJ96mZUIeYQiVmGI5sJ7dyX0Du6rcgCbB2fw slwlzADoX7CfC2ngBBlacic= =TUmZ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --AqsLC8rIMeq19msA--
