In order to specify a new startup mode, the "PreferredMode" setting can=20 be added to xorg.conf. However, this is ignored due to an acknowledged=20 xorg bug. (see https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3D10625) Included in the above bug report is a patch by Keith Packard that fixes=20 the problem. I have modified it to apply cleanly against=20 xorg-server-1.4_2,1, and it is attached to this email. I am humbly=20 requesting that it be included in the set of FreeBSD patches applied to=20 the port.
