I was trying to get 1024x768 console working, but it suddenly became less important when I get X working =) For sound, try this: http://www.katsurajima.seya.yokohama.jp/ich/ I found while searching through mailing lists, it's a driver for the sound card on my laptop. The driver has been committed into FreeBSD-CURRENT, but I don't think it's finished so it's not in FreeBSD-STABLE yet. I haven't had any problems with it though. Also, have you had any problems with your ethernet?
