note:
my motherboard  (Abit VA6 )manual describes the integrated sound as:
"...built in AC'97 2.1 CODEC onboard. This CODEC has an integrated H/W Sound
Blaster Pro AC '97 digital audio controller that can give you the best sound
quality and compatibility"
