I assume you have everything configured correctly, so here are my questions:

How do Xwrapper, X and XFree86 look like? I have them like this:
-r-sr-sr-x  1 root  wheel  4844 Jan  1 12:12 /usr/X11R6/bin/Xwrapper
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  7 Jan  9 18:48 /usr/X11R6/bin/X -> XFree86
-rwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel  1773953 Jan  9 18:48 /usr/X11R6/bin/XFree86
