Look at the topics on http://www.mostgraveconcern.com/freebsd/. He has
one for setting up a cable modem. I used his "setting-up a
dual-homed.." as my firewall rules.

For the most part, what you do is tell FreeBSD that it is going to be
a gateway in /etc/rc.conf. You probably have one IP address and you
need NAT to forward everything using it as the home address. The dual
homed article tells you what you have to add to your kernel. It is
pretty easy. When you want the firewall, things get a little bit more
complicated. You should be able to manage.
