Nobody's prepared to do the work, really. Basically, UPDATING was started in response to numerous folks whining that such a thing should exist. This was in spite of the numerous folks who believed that it would quickly become stale. If I recall correctly, its maintainer in CURRENT (imp) was one of those who thought it wasn't a fantastic idea. Although he maintains it, he expects some help in doing so, and just isn't getting the help he needs. So like any user-supported software that isn't supported by its users, this part of FreeBSD is dying. I think it was a reverse proof of concept, basically. :-) Ciao, Sheldon.
