| these isolated incidents? Stated differently, are others out there
| running 3.1-STABLE on production servers in relatively
| filesystem-intensive, sustained load situations who can put my mind at
| ease?

I can't really talk about SMP much, but, I've got a P200 running
as a dialin server + web proxy using vinum and softupdates using 3.1-stable
updated every month or so.

The proxy takes about a million hits per week, and I've not really
had any problems at all.
