There is another possibility:
Both drivers (radeon, radeonhd) have been performing pretty much 
flawlessly with X server 1.4.
 From drivers point of view main change during update to x server 1.5 is 
migration from x server internal pci access
library to external libpciaccess, so it's possible that this error is 
caused by difference in pci access libraries behavior.
