Uhhhh, no ... if you try to install something for 2.2.8, you're not going to
get any ELFs.  That's why we have -RELEASE versions.  If you can't get the
2.2.6 ports dist, then the 2.2.8 ports dist should work just fine.  This point
was made earlier in the thread, though I don't know why I had bothered to read
that far in ...
