i hate to say it, but i am almost to the point of giving up and going back
to windows for the time being, anyway.  at least for some of the specialized
apps.  i just do not have the time or the ability at this point to develop
my own anyway.  besides, why re-invent the wheel?

i just read a comment that *nix doesn't even have good, intuitive debugger.
all there really are are wrappers for ancient command line utils.  this does
not seem very state of the art compared with vc++ or softice.
