  I don't understand.  If you can see timestamps, the device must already
exist.  Which is to be expected, as all FreeBSD systems have ttyd2 by
default.  So what are you trying to do?

  Only if you want to use /dev/modem instead of /dev/cuaa0  And that would
only make sense if your modem is on COM1.
