I have a FreeBSD box connected to a DSL modem. The modem unpredictably loses sync several times a month. Disconnecting the 10base-T connector from the modem for 15 seconds fixes the problem, so I suspect turning the carrier off would accomplish the same thing. Is there a software way to toggle the carrier? The network card is a Linksys Etherfast LNE100TX version 4.1 (I also have a 2.0), running the dc driver.
