Just tried it on:

FreeBSD 2.1-STABLE FreeBSD 2.1-STABLE #0: Fri Jun 14 01:32:07 PDT 1996

seemed to work. I'm not an uemacs fan, so I only ran it then quit out,
but at least it ran (this was in an XTerm BTW).

It *WAS* a general problem. It should now be fixed in the source tree
and in all future versions of the package (including what goes on the
2.1.5 CD I hope).
