FreeBSD 3.3
Diamond V770 32 meg ram (Riva tnt2)(AGP)
AMD 400 256Meg Ram (32 meg swap space)

PROBLEM:

x server will not start in the proper mode, the best resolution I can get is
a generic vga server using 8 bit of color on a 800X600 screen. If I try to
go any further it either locks up or gets very distorted.

Options Already Tried:

Both x servers for diamond and riva using different bbp and even a generic
one for the xf86config. Tried using different options as far as probe and
not probe the hardware and change memory under all three config choices
(DIAMOND V770, RIVA TNT2, GENERIC(non specified)). tried the GUI and the
text method for installation and configuration of XF86Config.

Have also tried different installations from the pre-made to complete custom
and somewhere between. Both modifications and complete reinstall.

Note: monitor is known, I have had it working with other cards before and am
using the appropriate refresh and settings for that.
