Can this have something to do with the extremly low performance that
portupgrade (which seems to spawn an awesome amount of makes and
sorts) have?  When I run "portupgrade -ar" I see about 20% system time
with top(1) and 50% idle, and the rest is user.  (Yes, it's a dual
processor system)
