Yes...

from 'man boot_i386':

"You may put a BIOS drive number, a controller type, a unit number, a
partition, a kernel file name and the -B, -h or -P options in /boot.config
to set defaults.  Write them in one line just as you type them at the
`boot:' prompt."

Works like a charm -- I've built "boot keys" using the boot.flp image from
the distribution in the past.
