Date: Mon, 2 Sep 2002 13:17:04 +0200 User-Agent: KMail/1.4.3 X-Address: Muiderstraat 1, Amsterdam, Netherlands MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Message-Id: <200209021317.04041.znerd@FreeBSD.org> Sender: owner-freebsd-java@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.org It seems the license for J2SE 1.4 SDK is quite intrusive. Sun allows themselves to automatically install updates to the JDK! See: http://hal.trinhall.cam.ac.uk/~nrs27/java_eula.html This sounds a scary to me. Looks like Sun is thinking: If Microsoft can get away with it, so can we. I believe we should consider banning the Sun JDK 1.4 for Linux. Ernst -- Ernst de Haan EuroNet Internet B.V.
