I was able to compile 8.9.3 grabbed from sendmail.org a few days ago -
on a 2.1-STABLE - without any tweaking (except for the config files),
and the same on a 2.2.5-RELEASE box.

The only change I had to make is the location of the files allowed
to be run by the smrsh.
( /usr/libexec/sm.bin instead of /usr/adm/sm.bin in smrsh/smrsh.c file )

Igor
