I have been looking at The OS Files website: http://www.theosfiles.com/ which tells me the disk size required for FreeBSD is 60Mb or more. Seeing that many Linux distributions are about 600Mb I decided to go with FreeBSD. I used the link provided at The OS Files to download the image file. ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/4.2-install.iso After a few hours using my 56kbps modem, I had downloaded over 90Mb and I had to give up! What is the actual size of the download and how long will it take on a 56kbps modem (which manages to connect FTP at about 5kps)? Does the 60Mb or more reference at The OS Files mean that's a minimum installation requirement, whereas the actual download is far more? I couldn't find any reference to the size of the downloadable file! Sadly after giving up on my download I found it was also non-resumable so I doubt I can even download it in parts. (Maybe if I use some specialised FTP software rather than my browser?) I hope this enquiry is not too stupid - I'm fed up of being a typical clueless newbie. Your help would be much appreciated.
