Maybe of interest:

http://www.intel.com/pc-supp/multimed/mmx. It has a full description of
each of the 57 new processor instructions and a full description of the
new Single Instruction Multiple Data technology. Sounds good, intel
claims that the introduction of MMX is comparable in importance to the
step up to 32 bit processing with the introduction of the 386. They say
the performance increase is from 50 to 400% depending on applications.
Pc's with this technology will be made available in the final quarter of
this year they say.
