I already suffered the trouble you are trying to get in to and I
will help!

You can use this sup file:

------------ cut here ------------------
*default tag=RELENG_2_2_2_RELEASE
# The sources will be put in /usr/src. BE CAREFUL if you don't want to
# erase your old sources!
*default prefix=/usr
# The directory for the status files will be in /usr/sup
*default base=/usr
*default release=cvs delete use-rel-suffix
# If you don't have a very fast connection...
*default compress
# I think that this collection is ok since Walnut Creek is exporting it
# in their CDS.
------------ cut here ------------------

Do not forget to get cvsup binaries from
The latest release is 15.0

To run it just do ./cvsup -g -L2 <supfile> in non-graphical sessions or
./cvsup <supfile> in graphical sessions. BTW, -g means no graphics
support and -L2 is maximum level of verbosity.

I am using a variation of this file which enables me to have a copy of
the CVS tree (around 300MB) and then I can extract any version of FreeBSD.
Currently I am running FreeBSD 2.2-STABLE.

I hope that this is enough. And **do** read the handbook carefully.

Good luck with FreeBSD. The best OS in the world!

CVSup has the greatest invention since swap space. :-)
