The world is moving toward there being no such thing as a LAN, per se, with everything being handled via VPN. It doesn't matter where you jack your hardware into the net, you'll be on your corporate "LAN". You aren't going to be able to tell if something is a dialup or not, because stateless autoconfiguration doesn't have to occur into a particular prefix.
