I had thought of this, but then I thought of a setup where /usr is mounted from a different filesystem that the root filesystem, and this alias is executed by the superuser. There is no real way to recover all the information of the original file, since i-node, modification and access times, etc. are meta-data some of which will be changed and lost in some way during a move.
