The San Jose Mercury News has just announced a "Roundtable" in which
"experts" on open source software and a representative or two of
Microsoft will debate licensing issues. It's described at

http://www.siliconvalley.com/roundtable/

Note that no one from the open source world who is CRITICAL of the GPL is
there; the panel consists mostly of GPL advocates and then one Microsoft
exec and one fellow whose philosophy can best be described as "corporate
pseudo-Libertarian." The BSD license and the BSD philosophy have been
denied a voice. Those who believe that the GPL is not a good license for
freely redistributable and/or peer-reviewed software -- e.g. Tom
Christiansen and David Johnson -- are not represented.

Perhaps if folks here comment via the link at the bottom of the page, the
BSD philosophy of maximum freedom -- without poison pills or restrictions
motivated by spite -- could be represented.
