using 2.0.5-RELEASE

typing (as root) :

vidcontrol -c destructive

results in a kernel panic -

Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual address   = 0x20c
fault code = supervisor read, page not present
instruction pointer     = 0x8:0xf0182d75
code segment            = 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
                        = DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL = 0
current process         = 151 (vidcontrol)
interrupt mask          =
panic: page fault

It syncs disks and says it will reboot in 15secs, but it fails to do so.

the machine is a Pentium with PCI motherboard and 32Mbs of RAM.
Bounce buffers on. Using SCO type console.
